Would someone please tell me why ranked choice voting is so evil? Prior to the passage of RCV, an undeclared or nonpartisan voter had to select which ballot — Republican or Democratic — they wanted to use to vote. They were prevented from voting for candidates from different parties. This restricted their choices. In 2020 , approximately 57% of Alaska voters were undeclared or nonpartisan. In 2026 , even more Alaska voters — approximately 63.8% — are registered as nonpartisan or undeclared. Every time we vote on RCV, opponents say it’s too confusing, too easy to manipulate and deprives residents of their chosen representatives. Easy to manipulate? How? Why?
