A mother and her baby were taken to the hospital on Saturday after a crash in Miramar, police said. According to Miramar Police, the crash happened in the 2300 block of Southwest 173rd Avenue. Police said that while the mother was driving, her 4-month-old daughter started crying and as she reached to give her a bottle, her foot was apparently pressed on the accelerator and the vehicle crashed into a tree. The infant suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, while the mother was taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital with minor injuries. There was a second child in the vehicle, a 3-year-old boy, who was not injured. An investigation into the crash is underway.
