2 men shot 15 minutes apart in North Philly on Friday, police say

Police are investigating whether two shootings that happened in North Philadelphia are connected after they happened minutes apart on Friday night. According to Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace, the first shooting happened around 8:16 p.m. on Aug. 14 near the intersection of 21st and Gratz streets in North Philly. When officers got to the scene, they reported finding a young man who had been shot multiple times throughout his body, Pace said. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was placed in critical condition. Detectives found about 20 spent shell casings at the scene, Pace explained. Officers also stopped a vehicle of interest and that is being included as part of the crime scene. Then, a second shooting unfolded just before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of 24th and Elkhart streets which is about one mile from the first incident, Pace said.
