Train derailment in Collinsville closes US-377 lanes, injures person

A train derailment in Collinsville Saturday morning left at least one person injured and US-377 lanes closed. Collinsville Fire Department responded to the derailment after receiving reports of a vehicle-versus-train accident near US-377 and County Line Church Road. It is still unknown how the train derailed, but the derailment obstructed both the northbound and southbound lanes of US-377, which led to the crash. As of 12:45 p.m., US-377 was still closed to northbound and southbound traffic from the north city limits of Collinsville to the US-377/Business 377 area south of Whitesboro. Authorities strongly encourage motorists to avoid US-377 in that area and use alternate routes.
