15% of Texas Schools scored below a “C” on the state accountability scores

The Texas Education Agency released accountability scores for all Texas schools Friday morning. The scores grade how well specific campuses and school districts as a whole perform academically and prepare students for college and to enter the workforce.Scores this year cover the 2025 – 2026 school year. 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses were rated in 2026. 24% of both districts and campuses increased in rating compared to 2025. 585 campuses across Texas improved from below an A to an A rating in 2026. In total, 85% of campuses that received an A-F rating statewide achieved acceptable academic performance (C or above). In a news release distributed Friday morning, the Texas Education Agency singled out Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School in Irving ISD as being one of several high poverty schools that earned an “A” this school year. Overall, the number of high poverty schools scoring an “A” is up 2% over last year. The release also quoted Education Commissioner Mike Morath. “This year’s A-F
