Three new metro stations on Sofia’s Line 3 were officially opened on Friday at a ceremony attended by Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov, Sofia Deputy Mayor for Transport Viktor Chaushev, Metropolitan CEO Nikolay Naydenov, and Metropolitan Board member Stoyan Bratoev. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Terziev said that four years after the project began, mayors and executive directors had changed, but its main goal had remained the same: continuity and the strategic development of Sofia’s metro system. “Few people realize how difficult it is to implement a project like this and how much teamwork and continuity it requires,” Terziev said. He added that the three new stations would give more than 45,000 Sofia residents the opportunity to travel more conveniently and in a more environmentally friendly way.
