Hydrological Situation on Danube Remains Difficult as Dried-Up Channel Near Lyulyaka Island in Ruse Becomes Walking Spot

Due to the low water level of the Danube, a dried-up channel near Lyulyaka Island in Ruse has become a spot for walks. The hydrological situation remains difficult. Speaking to the Bulgarian News Agency, 55-year-old Nikolay Bogdanov said he could not remember the Danube level ever being this low. The water level of the Danube at Ruse remained unchanged over the past 24 hours, standing at 123 centimetres below the reference zero level, the Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River Executive Agency said. Water gauges recorded no change in levels at Vidin and Novo Selo. At Silistra and Svishtov, the level fell by one centimetre, while near Oryahovo it rose by one centimetre. All restrictions currently in place on the draft of vessels remain in force along the entire stretch of the river.
