Man, 55, shot in Garfield Park neighborhood in June dies

A man shot on the city's West Side in June died earlier this week from the wound, officials said. A Monday autopsy determined David Allen, 55, died of complications of a gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Allen was in the 3400 block of West Van Buren Street when someone shot him on June 16, according to the medical examiner's office. Allen, of the 6000 block of South Stony Island Avenue, was taken to the University of Illinois Hospital, where he died Sunday at 1:33 a.m., the medical examiner's office said. No arrests were reported by police. Area 4 detectives are investigating.
