Bears safety Coby Bryant undergoes surgery on his knee, gets new timeline for return

Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant’s injury during a practice may cost him more time than first thought. Head Coach Ben Johnson told reporters Tuesday that Bryant required knee surgery and is estimated to miss anywhere from four to six months. “Got to see him today. He had surgery on Friday and looks like he’s going to be more of a four to six-month timeline. And so, you know, he’s going to be in a hurry to get back to help us out there at the end of the year,” Johnson said. Bryant was carted off the practice field earlier this month at Halas Hall after suffering an injury. Bryant, who signed a three-year deal with the Bears during the offseason, was working in one-on-one drills in Lake Forest when he went down with what appeared to be a non-contact injury, according to multiple reports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter initially reported the team expected Bryant to miss eight to 10 weeks after suffering multiple injuries in his knee.
