Prime Minister, Officials Discuss Legislative Changes to Prevent Juvenile Crime

Legislative and organizational changes aimed at preventing juvenile crime were discussed by Prime Minister Rumen Radev with representatives of the involved institutions at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. The meeting was held in response to recent cases of aggression involving minors and youths, including an incident that resulted in the death of a man in Plovdiv, the government information service said on Tuesday. Strengthening the role of state institutions and coordinating their efforts to prevent crimes committed by children and minors were the main focus of the meeting. Inconsistent policies addressing antisocial behavior, along with a lack of effective oversight and sanctions over the years, were identified among the problems that have undermined crime-prevention measures and contributed to a perception of impunity in society.
