Save A Lot has closed dozens of stores in 2026: See a list of doomed grocery locations across 13 states

Save A Lot supermarkets are vital for food access in many of the communities they serve, providing an array of discounted goods in low-income, urban, and rural areas where grocery stores might otherwise be scarce. But Save A Lot locations have been disappearing at an unsettling rate, with store closures impacting dozens of communities across at least 13 states this year alone, a Fast Company review has found. Some states, including Florida, Ohio, and New York, have seen multiple Save A Lot locations shutter in 2026. While some of these closures have been well publicized, such as the closure of several Chicago-based stores owned by grocer Yellow Banana—which followed the death of Yellow Banana’s CEO in April—others have flown relatively under the radar outside of localized chatter on social media.
