Slovenia's GEN-I Takes Over Management of 200 MW of Battery Storage Capacity in Bulgaria, Signs Deal for Nine More Projects

Slovenian energy company GEN-I has taken over the commercial management and market optimization of two large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Bulgaria with a combined output capacity of 200 MW and storage capacity of 505 MWh, the company said in a press release on Monday. The two battery storage facilities, located in Brusartsi and Byala Slatina, have been developed and constructed by SUNOTEC, a Sofia-headquartered company specializing in solar power plants and energy storage systems. Both facilities are already connected to the electricity grid. The BESS in Brusartsi has an output capacity of 150 MW and storage capacity of 379 MWh, while the facility in Byala Slatina has an output capacity of 50 MW and storage capacity of 126 MWh.
