Yellow Heat Alert Issued for 16 Bulgarian Regions

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a code yellow weather warning for high temperatures on Tuesday. The warning applies to 16 regions, NIMH said on its website. A yellow warning is in effect for the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Ruse, Sliven, Yambol, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad. According to the NIMH forecast, on Tuesday it will be sunny and hot. Light east-northeasterly winds are expected, moderate in southeastern Bulgaria. Highs will range from 33°C to 38°C, with lower temperatures along the coast and 33°C-34°C in Sofia. NIMH reminds the public that when a code yellow warning for high temperatures is issued, people should exercise caution, as health problems are possible for sensitive and ill people, older adults and children.
