Ground stops issued at O'Hare, Midway amid severe weather

Severe weather led to ground stops at both Chicago airports on Sunday afternoon. According to the FAA, a ground stop went into effect at O’Hare International Airport just before noon, and is currently slated to run through 2:30 p.m., though there is a chance the stop will be extended. Midway Airport also has a ground stop that was issued just before 1 p.m., with that stop running through 2:15 p.m. Under provisions of the ground stop, flights that are bound for Chicago are being held at their departing airports, and there are also departure delays being reported at O’Hare, according to officials.
