On Friday, the smallest surviving baby born at a Walnut Creek hospital finally went home with her family after a rough start in life. Weighing in at less than a pound, Baby Meadow is the smallest surviving baby born at John Muir Health’s Walnut Creek Medical Center. “Even saying a miracle seems like downplayed, she’s more than a miracle and I don’t really know the word for it yet, but it’s kind of like magic. She’s just a magic baby,” said her mother, Noel Creamer. Weighing just 350 grams, Meadow is the smallest surviving baby ever born at John Muir Health in Walnut Creek. She was so tiny, her outer layer of skin hadn’t yet developed so she was a different color and her eyes were fused closed. “It was almost like seeing a kitten, because kittens are born with their eyes closed. So, I kind of call her my little kitten,” Creamer said. Creamer says her baby had a condition that prevented her from getting the nutrients she needed while in the womb.
