The Plovdiv District Court has left in custody five teenagers arrested in connection with the killing of a 37-year-old man in the city on August 4. The judges explained their decision by the particularly cruel manner of the crime. The hearing was held behind closed doors. A total of 10 teenagers aged between 14 and 17 were detained in connection with the case and charges have been brought against five of them - three boys and two girls. Three of the teenagers are from Plovdiv, while the other two are from Stara Zagora and the village of Stroevo. The five teenagers have been charged with murder, committed in complicity in a particularly cruel manner, motivated by hooliganism and sexual motives. The assault continued for more than an hour. The teenagers had imitated so-called "paedophile hunter" groups, investigators said.
