It’s almost time for the Alaska primary election. This year, it’s more important than ever to use your vote to put the right people into office and make sure our election system is working for all Alaskans. Now is the best time to check your voting status on Alaska’s Division of Elections website at elections.alaska.gov , especially if you got your Alaska driver’s license before you became a U.S. citizen. Check soon to make sure you have a chance to fix any registration problems before Election Day. The state of Alaska has sent out the election pamphlet for the primary election, featuring Ballot Measure 1. I recommend everyone read it to learn details of how we can vote and what’s on the ballot. First, for how to vote: We can vote absentee by requesting to vote by mail, by fax or online, or we can vote in person early or on Aug. 18.
