I paid £77 for first class upgrade on Avanti train but was denied a hot breakfast due to lack of staff: CRANE ON THE CASE

I asked for hot food and drink on the train from Edinburgh to Birmingham, but was told there was not enough staff and given a can of coke and a packet of shortbread instead.
