Narcotics operation in San Francisco leads to 87 arrests

A recent narcotics operation in San Francisco led to 87 arrests and the seizure of several pounds of drugs and a few guns, the San Francisco police, district attorney and other agencies announced Friday. “This week we conducted two major enforcement operations. One was focused on arresting outstanding fugitives. In the other we conducted undercover stings that led to the arrests of multiple drug dealers,” San Francisco police Chief Derrik Lew said. Lew also described arrests last week by SFPD in Oakland at four different homes. They said 13 people were arrested on brand new drug and weapons violations, 74 others were arrested who had outstanding warrants or parole violations. Most of these people taken into custody are familiar to officers and prosecutors. In April, the California Supreme Court ruled that only people charged with violent or sexual abuse felonies could be held without bail.
