Cameroonian Musician Richard Bona Is Writing Song Inspired by Bulgarian Rhythms

Speaking at a press conference in Borovets on Tuesday, Cameroonian musician Richard Bona said that he had begun writing a song inspired by Bulgarian rhythms that morning. He will close the Dr. Emil Iliev International Jazz Festival in Borovets later in the day. Bona shared a story from years ago when he fell asleep on a plane and began hearing voices. "I opened my eyes and heard all the passengers singing. It turned out they were the performers from The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices," the musician said, expressing his admiration for the beauty of Bulgarian songs. He said that while he continues to play guitar, the bass remains his main instrument. Bona noted that for many years he had played the organ in a church where his mother was a singer, and that he later began singing himself.
