The Ministry of Interior will do everything within its powers to establish the facts surrounding the verbal confrontation between a group of foreign nationals and a group of Bulgarians in Bansko, acting Secretary General of the Interior Ministry Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov said, as quoted by the Ministry's press centre on Thursday. On August 2, the first reports of a group of neo-Nazis who attempted to storm a hotel in Sofia where a group of young Italian Jews was staying appeared in Italian media. Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry later clarified that the incident had in fact taken place in Bansko. At a briefing, the head of the Bansko District Police Department, Chief Inspector Hristiyan Parmakov, said that at around 11:30 p.m. on August 2, police received a report of individuals threatening violence outside a hotel in the town.
