Pasco charter schools threaten lawsuit over tax revenue sharing

The big story: When do Florida school districts need to send charter schools their share of tax revenue collections? Some Pasco County charters stand ready to sue to find out. A lawyer representing several Pasco charter schools has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school district after it did not send a portion of property tax revenue to the districts in July. District officials said in the spring that they did not dispute the requirement that they must provide charters a proportional share of funds generated by a voter-approved property tax referendum. However, they stressed that they had no intention of sending any money until after it’s in district accounts.
