Patriarch Daniil To Lead Third Annual Water Blessing at Lake Babreka

Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Daniil will perform a third annual water blessing at Lake Babreka in the Rila Mountains on Wednesday as part of the Rila Miracle Worker pilgrimage route. Now in its 17th year, the six-day pilgrimage leads participants from St. Sofia, the Wisdom of God Church in Sofia across the Vitosha, Verila and Rila mountains to Rila Monastery. The programme includes daily church services, prayer services and spiritual talks. After Wednesday's blessing of the waters, pilgrims will attend the festive liturgy for the Transfiguration of the Lord on August 6. Held annually from August 1 to 6 since 2010, the pilgrimage was launched by the Faculty of Theology at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski with the blessing of the Sofia Holy Metropolis.
