Third man sentenced in deadly shooting of Parks and Recreation employee

A man was sentenced for his involvement in the 2022 deadly shooting of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation employee Tiffany Fletcher . Officials said on the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2022, officers responded to a call for a person with a gun at the 4700 block of Brown St in West Philadelphia. When officers arrived, officials said they found Fletcher, 41, with gunshot wounds to the right and left sides of her body. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. It was found that Fletcher had been caught in the crossfire at the Mill Creek Playground when teens began shooting at each other. Investigators were able to recover surveillance video from that day of two teens with handguns inside the Mill Creek Recreation Center yard. More surveillance footage from a different angle showed the two boys fleeing from the 47th Street side of the recreation center into the community center’s rear parking lot, then continuing to flee eastbound on Fairmount Street.
