GOP Senator pivots on the filibuster — again

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has reversed his position on the Senate filibuster for a second time. Earlier this year, the outgoing senator broke with his longstanding support for the controversial rule, announcing he would back changing the filibuster to pass Trump's SAVE America Act, a voting restrictions bill. Cornyn's shift was designed to appeal to angry MAGA supporters gravitating toward his rival, state Attorney General Ken Paxton, and to secure President Donald Trump's endorsement, neither of which materialized.
