Bulgaria's U14 Boys Secure Historic Place in World Tennis Championship Semifinals

For the first time in history, Bulgaria's national under-14 boys' team has reached the semifinals of the World Junior Tennis Championships. At the 14&U Junior Finals in Prostejov, Czechia, taking place August 3-8, Bruno Dzhenev (Max Pro 2020 Tennis Club, Plovdiv), Alexander Borisov (Max Pro 2020 Tennis Club, Plovdiv), and Emil Aleksiev (Via Tennis Star Tennis Club, Sofia) defeated the European champions from the UK 2-0 and advanced to the medal rounds. In the opening singles match, Borisov made a comeback to win the match against Europe's No. 7-ranked player, Oscar Laskowski, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. The Bulgarian trailed 3-4 in the second set before winning seven consecutive games to turn the match around. A similar run secured Bruno Dzhenev's victory over Europe's No. 2, Liam Sharkey.
