Silistra Hosts Discussion on Poet Pencho Slaveykov's 160th Anniversary

A discussion marking the 160th anniversary of the birth of poet Pencho Slaveykov and focusing on Bulgarian modernism will be held on Thursday at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Silistra. The initiative is titled Pencho Slaveykov Today and is organized by the Bulgarian News Agency. The discussion will be moderated by poet, literary scholar and critic Assoc. Prof. Yordan Eftimov. The event will be attended by university lecturers, teachers, literary critics and journalists. Participants will discuss Pencho Slaveykov’s place in Bulgarian literature, the significance of his work for the development of Bulgarian modernism, and the relevance of his ideas today. Special attention will be paid to the poet’s connection with the Dobruja region, situated between the lower Danube River and the Black Sea.
