San Francisco Firebells pick up first win of the season

San Francisco’s women’s professional baseball team made history Sunday after winning its first game of the season. The Firebells opened their inaugural season with a 11-3 victory over the Boston Hunters. The win came one day after the league’s first ever game with the Los Angeles Queens versus the New York Heights. Kelsie Whitmore, the No. 1 overall pick, helped lead the way in the franchise’s debut. “I know this is just game one. We have a long season ahead. The goal is to keep the energy that we have, the momentum. Love the squad that we’re on, just keep it going,” Whitmore said. The Firebells will face off against the Heights on Thursday and the Queens on Friday.
