Vazrazhdane to Announce Presidential Candidate in Early September

Vazrazhdane will nominate its own candidate for Bulgaria's presidential election, with the nominee to be announced in early September, the party said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. At the end of July, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said the party was considering five potential candidates. He said internal and public opinion surveys would be conducted to determine which candidate received the strongest support. Parliament has scheduled the election for president and vice president for October 25. Under the Constitution, if no candidate wins an outright majority in the first round, a runoff will be held within seven days. The decision setting the election day was published in Tuesday's issue of the State Gazette.
