Interior Minister Refers Peevski to Audit Office over Suspected Discrepancies between Declared Assets, Income

Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev referred Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Floor Leader Delyan Peevski to the National Audit Office over suspected discrepancies between the publicly declared assets and income of a public office holder and his actual lifestyle, the Interior Ministry said on Friday. The referral also cites information suggesting that expenses incurred for Peevski's benefit were not declared as required. According to the Interior Ministry, Demerdzhiev took this step after the National Audit Office stated that it has no legal authority to initiate such proceedings on its own.
