Good afternoon! It’s Thursday, and following Bianca’s lead, I have finally secured tickets to see “The Odyssey.” Here’s what else you need to know today. 1. Latino high schools hit especially hard by teacher cuts in Chicago Public Schools budget heading for vote A WBEZ analysis of school-level budget changes shows high schools with mostly Latino students are losing the most regular classroom teachers, both as a share of teachers and in overall positions. They lost 158 teachers, or 7% of their teachers, the most pronounced loss under the proposed budget. The school board is scheduled to vote on the spending plan today. Overall, there are about 4% fewer teachers across all schools, not including teachers who work specifically with students in special education.
