The only reason that sea lions take more than a negligible percentage of the salmon on the Columbia River is because there are eight dams in the Columbia Basin that have brought many salmon runs to the brink of extinction. Bonneville Dam creates a bottleneck where salmon have to congregate. Sea lions naturally take advantage of the situation. But the sea lions have not created the problem, and killing them cannot fix it.
