Progressive Bulgaria Began Delivering on Campaign Promises from Day One, Floor Leader Says in End-of-Session Declaration

Progressive Bulgaria began delivering on its campaign promises from the first day in office, the party's Floor Leader, Petar Vitanov, said in a declaration marking the end of Parliament's current session ahead of the August recess. "The past three months are only the beginning, and there is no room for self-congratulation," Vitanov thanked Progressive Bulgaria MPs, saying that despite entering a new and demanding field, they had made up for their lack of experience with dedication and motivation. He highlighted amendments to the Judiciary Act launching the procedure for electing a new Supreme Judicial Council, whose mandate has expired. Parliament has also adopted the rules for electing its quota of Council members, he said. Vitanov said electing a new Prosecutor General by the end of the year would require opposition support, as a 160-vote majority is needed.
