Las Vegas has ambitions to be the biggest sporting market on the planet. Major League Baseball team the [formerly Oakland] Athletics are already bound for Sin City, following the WNBA and the NHL with a permanent home in the desert. The NBA is exploring expansion teams in both Las Vegas and Seattle Getty A $2 billion ball park will be home for The A’s in time for Opening Day of the 2028 season , and the arrival of an NBA team in the near future is a near certainty. The Association’s Board of Governors voted in March to approve the exploration of two brand new basketball franchises , with Las Vegas and Seattle the leading destination front-runners. A decision is expected to be made, and formerly announced, by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver at the end of the calendar year.
