Bulgaria to Be Represented by Record 15 Athletes at World U20 Athletics Championships

Bulgaria will be represented by 15 athletes at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon from August 5 to 9, the country's largest team at the event this century, the Bulgarian Athletics Federation said on Friday. The squad includes newly crowned European U18 triple jump champion Viktoriya Angelova, who leads the world U20 rankings. Also competing is Radina Velichkova, the 2024 European U18 100m champion, who will race in both the 100m and 200m events. Among Bulgaria's top medal hopes are Hristiyan Kasabov, the 2025 European U20 silver medalist in the 110m hurdles and national U20 record holder, and Zinga Barbosa Firmino, who won European U20 bronze in the triple jump. The team also features Vasil Antonov, Bulgaria's U18 national record holder in the 400m, who has recovered from the injury that forced him out of the European U18 final earlier this month.
