Independent Survey Will Examine Motivations of Bulgarians Abroad to Return Home

The DNA - Movement for a National Cause Association, in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, has launched an independent scientific study among Bulgarians living abroad on a long-term basis, the DNA team reported to BTA on Wednesday. "The study builds on the practical experience gained in recent years by Bulgaria Wants You - a platform initiated by DNA which works daily with Bulgarians both abroad and at home, and identifies the trends and challenges our compatriots are facing abroad," the organizers noted. The study examines the attitudes, motivations and specific conditions that would encourage Bulgarians living abroad to resettle in Bulgaria. Key topics include personal and family plans, career prospects, the quality of the public and institutional environment, ties with Bulgaria, the reasons why people remain abroad, and the policies that could encourage their return.
