MLB team’s plans for new $2.3bn ballpark ‘halted in their tracks’ as city council creates big obstacle

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor is growing increasingly frustrated with the city’s council in an effort to secure funding for the Rays new stadium. The MLB franchise’s move from the recently-renovated Tropicana Field to Hillsborough College campus just 20 miles away was announced in January.
