Transit advocates are riding SEPTA for 24 hours as part of a new push to increase funding for mass transit in the region. On Tuesday, community leaders and riders were set to take part in the 24-hour event, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of funding public transit in the next state budget. The transit marathon kicked off Tuesday morning with an event featuring elected officials at Dilworth Park. The effort is being led by Transit Forward Philadelphia . Organizers will make stops throughout the region using trains and buses throughout the day to talk with riders and lawmakers about the importance of transit funding.
